When Is the BGMI 4.4 Update Release Date in India?

On May 18, 2026, at approximately 12:00 PM, Krafton India confirmed on its official Discord channel that the BGMI 4.4 update will arrive on May 20, 2026. The rollout is staggered across platforms. Here’s the complete schedule:

The Android update rollout complete in different phases, which means not everyone will receive the update exactly at 06:30. Krafton has decided to complete the rollout of this update for Android users in three phases. According to the company, the update will gradually reach all devices, which is why every player will not see the update at the same time.

During this period, all eligible Android users will receive the update. Therefore, players should continue checking the Play Store for updates according to their rollout slot. Many times, because of server load and region-wise rollout, the update may also appear slightly later.

Meanwhile, the rollout process for iOS devices will also continue, and by 11:30 AM, the update is expected to become available for almost all iPhone and iPad users.

BGMI follows a consistent two-month update cycle BGMI 4.3 launched on March 19, 2026, so May 20 fits right in line.

What are the new features and Hero’s Crown themed mode in BGMI 4.4?

BGMI Version 4.4 is not just a small update. This time, Krafton has made major changes in gameplay, weapons, vehicles, map experience, movement mechanics, and themed mode, with big updates across almost every aspect of the game. Several new features have arrived that can completely change the gameplay of aggressive players, rushers, snipers, and casual players alike. According to the official patch notes, Hero’s Crown is the main theme of this update.

The very first thing every player should know is the new Hero’s Crown themed mode.

According to Krafton, BGMI has introduced a Greek mythology-inspired mode, in which the entire atmosphere of the map has been changed. This mode will be available in Battlegrounds Mobile India maps Erangel, Livik, and Rondo.

What major changes have taken place in the map?

Several famous locations in Erangel have been completely redesigned:

  • Yasnaya Polyana
  • Ruins
  • Ferry Pier
  • Mylta

These places have been transformed into ancient Greek-style ruins and temples. Especially the entire structure of Ruins and Ferry Pier has been changed, because of which the old rush routes and camping spots are no longer the same as before.

This is being considered the most exciting area of the update. Teams with Top Glory will get the opportunity to enter the floating island “Crown’s Abode,” where the final boss fight takes place. Here, players will have to collect Origin Embers and fight against other squads. This area has basically become BGMI’s mini raid-style battlefield.

Missions That Completely Transform Gameplay

This time, not just loot, but special trials have also been introduced:

  • Prometheus Trial
  • Spartan Trial
  • Achilles Trial
  • Icarus Trial
  • Gryphon Trial

Each trial offers different gameplay:

  • In some, players will have to defend a base
  • In some, there is a fast movement challenge
  • In some, there is flying parkour
  • And in some, football-style goal scoring

The Achilles Trial features a speed-based spirit smashing challenge, while in the Icarus Trial, players can temporarily fly. This is the reason why many players are calling this update the “most unique BGMI mode.

In the floating island, players will have to fight the Centaur Helios boss. It uses bow attacks, charge attacks, and healing skills. After defeating the boss, players can mount it and use it like an ally. This means BGMI will now literally feature centaur riding.

This update has also introduced a new themed weapon: Laurel – M1 Garand. This weapon will only be available in Hero’s Crown mode. It is being considered quite dangerous in mid-range fights.

Now sniper bullets will no longer lose damage with distance. The damage of AMR, AWM, DSR, Kar98K, M24, Mini14, Mk12, Mk14, Mosin-Nagant, QBU, SKS, SLR, Win94, and M1 Garand has also been increased. Long-range fights are now going to become more dangerous than before. Skilled snipers will now be extremely lethal even in 300–400 meter fights.

A major change has been seen in shotgun balancing. Now, as distance increases, the damage of these guns will decrease more than before, meaning they will start losing damage over range. This change mainly includes shotguns like DBS, M1014, S12K, S686, and S1897.

Earlier, these shotguns were considered extremely powerful in close-range fights, because of which many players preferred these weapons for aggressive gameplay. Especially inside buildings, tight compounds, and surprise rush situations, shotgun users could knock opponents quite easily. Many times, skilled players were even able to pull off 1vs4 clutches using only shotguns and handle difficult panic situations.

However, after the new balance changes, close-range domination is no longer going to be as dangerous as before. Players will now have to focus much more on proper positioning, movement, and accuracy.

Earlier, the JS9 was available only on the Rondo map, because of which players who preferred other Classic maps were unable to use this SMG. However, after the new update, Krafton has significantly expanded the availability of this weapon.

Now, the JS9 will also be available as ground loot in several other Classic maps, including Erangel, Miramar, Livik, and Vikendi. This means players will no longer need to choose a separate map and will now be able to use this SMG on their favorite classic maps as well.

The Panzerfaust has also received a major buff, making this weapon far more dangerous than before. Its explosion radius has now been increased, meaning the blast impact will cover a much larger area. Apart from this, it is capable of dealing nearly 1000 damage to vehicles, which could heavily affect vehicle-based rush strategies.

Version 4.4 also introduces a new sports car vehicle called the Roadster. The Roadster is a 2-seater convertible sports car designed with fast movement and smooth handling in mind. The Turbo Boost system included in it helps deliver much faster acceleration compared to many other vehicles.

This new vehicle will now be available in Erangel, Miramar, Livik, Sanhok, Nusa, and Rondo.

A major change has also been seen in the Spawn Island of the Livik map. Its design and overall environment have now been made more modern and interactive compared to before.

Version 4.4 brings a major performance upgrade for high-end device users. Compared to before, more smartphones will now officially support 120 FPS, due to which gameplay will feel much smoother and more responsive.

After this update, many devices powered by flagship processors like Snapdragon 8 Gen 3+, Dimensity 9300+, and Exynos 2400+ will receive ultra-high frame rate support. This will allow players to fully utilize high-refresh-rate displays, and screen response during fast-paced fights will feel much better than before.

For competitive players, this change is being considered extremely important because higher FPS makes gameplay more stable. Along with this, input delay also becomes lower, due to which aiming, recoil control, and close-range reactions become more accurate. Especially esports players and players pushing ranked matches are expected to experience smoother movement, faster touch response, and an overall better combat experience.
