Silence on Independence Day: Do Indian Gamer have no Duty Toward the Nation?

In today’s era, Free Fire, BGMI and PUBG mobile games have become a source of income in India. During Covid-19, when schools and colleges were closed, people made gaming their career and gathered millions of fans through live streaming.

Many gamers at that time used to stream for 8 to 10 hours a day, just to increase subscribers and fan following. There was no benefit to the general public from this. But the question is, are these streamers giving credit for their success to the right people? Are they just content creators or “fake celebrities” who do not see any responsibility towards their fans and the country?

Silence on Independence Day: Is money everything?

15th August 2025, India’s 79th Independence Day. The whole country was waving the tricolor, but where were our “top gaming stars”? Not a single post about our freedom fighter, no tribute, just completed the formalities by posting a few stories with no captions.

None of the famous Indian gamers like Dynamo Gaming, Lokesh Gamer, Kashvi Hiranandani, Snax Gaming, Soul Regaltos, Piyush Joshi, Ujjwal Chaurasia, Gyan Gaming, Total Gaming, Scout, MythPat, Payal Gaming and Anshu Bisht shared a single post on Instagram on Independence Day. Even though each of them has millions of followers.

It’s hypocritical these gamers post endlessly for brand deals, sponsorships, and merch, cashing in on their Indian audience. Yet when it comes to showing basic respect for the country, they stay silent.

If they profit from Indian fans, the least they can do is acknowledge and honor the nation that supports them. Money shouldn’t be their only priority. Loyalty goes both ways.

Journey From “Subscribe brother!” to “He is our fan”

There was a sentiment in the initial videos of these gamers “Bhai support karo, like-share karo, subscribe to the channel!”. People loved them and supported them too. Most of their fans are children aged 10-18 years, who gave them a lot of love.

But today these same streamers think of fans as “stupid followers”, while the truth is that if there were no fans, they would not have been anywhere today! Fans made them stars by giving them superchats, donations and views, but today these streamers show arrogance by saying “They are our fans”. They forgot that no one is forced to become their fan!

We want support, But not respect

Today’s streamers only know how to thank with money. Be it through superchat or buying merchandise. But when society needs their message, they remain silent. Are fans just a “source of income” for them?

Fans should remember that their favorite gamers are just content creators not heroes. If a streamer doesn’t respect you, why support them blindly? Fans have the power to hold them accountable. Without respect, they don’t deserve your support.

Our country fought for freedom. Martyrs gave their lives. Public figures should honor them, even with a simple post. But if they only care about themselves, maybe we should rethink our support.
