In a squad largely unchanged, notable shifts include the absence of Masood, Sohail, and Ihsanullah, who were part of the group against New Zealand. Saud Shakeel, impressive in Tests but less experienced in ODIs, joins the 18-man squad against Afghanistan but not the 17-man Asia Cup lineup.

“Inzamam-ul-Haq, the new chief selector, emphasized Faheem Ashraf’s inclusion due to his prowess as a fast-bowling all-rounder,” shared Inzamam at the squad announcement. “Considering his form in PSL and other tournaments, he’s a valuable asset, especially as we lack another fast-bowling allrounder crucial for the World Cup.”
