IPL 2024: Cancel This Rule in IPL, Big Demand by Former Indian Test Captain

IPL 2024: India’s former Test captain Wasim Jaffer has demanded to cancel a rule in IPL. Or as a rule, there is a shortage of all-rounders, Wasim said.

Former India cricketer and Punjab Kings team batting coach Wasim Jaffer has posted a post on social media platform. Or in the post he said that a rule in IPL should be canceled. Impact player rule in Indian Premier League to be discontinued, hence he is suspended. He said that if the HA rule is stopped in IPL, more all-rounder players will be produced in Indian cricket. Currently, as per the Impact Player rules in IPL, both the teams can field one substitute player each in the match. This rule would have been implemented from IPL 2023 onwards.

Wasim Jaffer said, I think there is a need to stop the impact player rule in IPL. Or due to the rules, bowlers are not encouraged to bowl faster and there is a lack of all-rounder. Wasim Jaffer said that batsmen not bowling is a matter of concern for the Indian Association.

What is the Impact Player rule?

To use the Impact Player rule, an additional 5 players are required to be named during the team captaincy toss along with the 11-man team. One of those players would have been given a contract by the association as a substitute player. Or as per rules there are 12 players in a team. The 12th player is called an impact player.

Or as a rule, all-rounder players are not given importance. Many teams prefer to take the field with 6 batsmen and 5 bowlers. The concern expressed by Wasim Jaffer is justified, as Team India has been struggling for an all-rounder player in the last few days. Another all-rounder like Hardik Pandya would have been racially charged.
